thanks again, i'll have to leave the ignition and change the rest of the locks and have 2 keys.

correct. the transponder around the barrel isnt specific to the original ecu/chip

The key inside the chip, and the ECU are the only things that have to match. The transponder around the barrel just carries the code from the key to the ECU.

Hey there peeps.

i have a gsi now and the locks are a bit mashed, is it easy to change the ignition barrel is the question with the ignition out of me 1.4 sport?
