the immobilisors only started to come in around 96 onwards so dont worry m8 any ecu from a car with an engine the same as ur mums will be perfectly fine!

nope dont think so. 1.2 8v vegas, didnt have an Immobiliser IIRC

I called up vaux just to get an idea of how much they go for, £190+ VAT on an exchange basis.

Bit of a Rip off IMO

99% prob of scam.
Just do the paper clip test!!!!
There's an error code for the ECU but don't replaced it, for now.
It is probably the water temperature sensor, or a bad contact of the water temperature sensor plug. It's 15 quid for god sakes:!

The code in your key chip wont match the one in the new ECU, you will have to get hold of another ECU with the matching chips from the keys.

Update to my mums fueling problem....

The garage have now said for definate the ECU is shagged (I still doubt this) so when she gets it back I'm going to do pperclip test and change thermostat but I just have a quick question....If I get another ECU for exactly the same model car I can just plug it in and go right? The dumb fuckers at the garage say it will need to be set up at Vaux, surely this isn't the case :|
