unless the fueling is different on a 2 litre 8v to the way a corsa works i'd just go with the gsi pump.... I.E reconnect the fuel pipes without that other pump under the bonnet... see what happens...

quote: Yeah it sounds better up the rev range, like its running properly on 4 cylinders. At low revs the car sounds really lumpy and cuts out sometimes. I'm not 100% that it is only running on 3 cylinders but it defo sounds like that. I've got new leads, distributer cap and rotor arm to put on so i'll see what happens with that. About the fuel pump, there is defo 2 on it. The gsi one is in the fuel tank replacing the 1200 one and there is another under the bonnet right at the bulkhead where the fuel lines are running. It may not be the original 1200 one, i just assumed it may have been. It must be off something else that has an external fuel pump on it. I'm pissed off because theres really no need for the extra one.

firing order? timing p.s any fuel pump will do untill the revs get so high i.e even the 1.2 fuel pump will make it idle fine and not to sure about the internal 12 i think early models had an external one, check the conection on the afm very common on the 8v also i had a simaler prob when the ecu filled with water cause the ruber gromit was fubar

Does it sound any better higher up the rev range? Usually indicates electrical problems as the fuel ignites be compression alone up the top end.

i very much doubt he put the 1.2 pump in the engine bay aswell as they are internal pumps. (need to sit in the fuel tank)

Bad earth? You have wired all the earth straps down off of the engine?

would the extra fuel pump cause it to miss fire though? Could it be overfuelling and flooding one of the cylinders?

yes, gsi pump would be fine on its own

quote: its got 2 on it now. The 1200 fuel pump couldnt keep up with the 2L so it was replaced with a corsa GSI pump. then the guy that done it put the 1200 pump under the bonnet where the fuel lines run to make sure it gets enough fuel. I'm puzzled by that like, surely the gsi pump is powerful enough? :boggle:

Mine only fired on 2 cyls. 2 dead injectors, so I just got some out of my spares and it's all happy again.

you got an MPI fuel pump? If you've gone from SPI to an MPI engine, the SPI fuel pump won't supply enough and could cause it to run badly... Just a thought :)
