what difference does it make putting a mpi head on it then? could you also put a mild cam in the mpi head and get a decent power increase???

the cam in the mpi head aint anything that special

if you dont change the pistons, the compression ration will be lower & cause the engine not to run as well as it should as its N/A & not forced induction.

my SRi's lumpy when cold anyway :|

i used a 1.4sri 8v head on my SPi engine, kinda helped torque a bit & top-end power, but was still running the SPi setup... :|

only main issue i had was it ran a bit lumpy when cold with the sri head

The head design is also different, in the ports and valves are larger.

You'd need
Head
Cam
inlet manifold
Exhaust manifold
Loom
DIS pack
Fuel pump
Also if the engine Spi doesn't have a crank sensor then you'd need
oil pump
crank sensor
Crank pulley

so just swap the engines over :)

compression ratio of the SPi is lower than the MPi so the pistons are different... the poskets are deeper on the SPi to lower the compression.

SPi - 9.5:1
MPi - 10:1 or around that

do a search it's been posted millions of time.
There's a lot to it, it's just easier to swap the whole engine.

Get full head and manifolds off the mpi, and the pump, fuel connectors etc.

Pistons may be different though
