It will be sat either between the block and inlet trunking of between the plastic water pipe and block, like siberia said just drive it

i can imagine... i put a c16xe lump in there last week and its tight enough i can imagine a c20xe being tighter again....

@ magic monkey... unless u have have droped the tool into the inlet itsself i wouldnt bother going taking the maanifold off to find it.... just drive the car..... it will soon fall out:)

the haynes manual says i can undo just the top mounting bracket and pivot the alternator to the side!
maybe i can see were it is then but it really depends how much i can move it?

its easier than removing the inlet fanimould on my 2 litre :)

as above need some advice/pics of what the c16xe looks like without the upper and lower inlet manifold on??

as ive dropped a 13mm ratchet tip roughly behind the alternator and its fallen further in so i cant even see it now, but its their somwere under the lower inlet manifold! :(

tried jerking car back n forth to shake it out but no luck!???
