use ur 1.4 mounts and go to vauxhalls and get the tensioner of a 1.4 or 1.6 16v with no p/s. this bolts to the back off the engine just to tension the alternator belt

im talkin about the drivers side mount ian, the mount that encorporates the power steering pump and the tensioner for the drive belt. im now hoping to be able to adapt the original engine mount the and just do without the p/s and sumhow tension the drive belt by other means, i havnt thought that far ahead yet tho!

Do you mean passenger or driver side?

In the passenger side just keep the 1400 chassis leg mount. The span section that meets the box is identical I think.

then the tensioner on the front mounting isnt needed anyway
you need to relocate the tensioner to the rear.
Use the alternator belt from the non power steering 1.4 16v.
Use your original front engine mount

are you running power steering?

i dont thnk so no because the holes look closer together, and anyway the engine mount encorporates a tensioner for the fan belt, i would love to be able to use the original engine mount as it would save alot of problems but i cant see how i would tension the belt in future, anyone have any ideas how i could do this??

x16xe mounts would be the obvious choice IMO

Im trying to stick a x16xe engine into my 1400 8v sri, but because my engine is an 8v the engine mounts/chassis legs are very different! is ther anything i can do to get the engine to fit or am i at a dead end with this?? are ther any mounts that i can buy from any companys that would allow the engine to be fitted??
cheers for any advise
