its only knocking for a few seconds when i start the engine. then its ok. but when engine hasn't been used for a while, its there for a longer period.

is the knocking bottom or top end? If top it'll prob just be the lifters/tappets/followers

Valves sticking? Did or do you thrash the car before you leave it over night? My nova used to ratlle when cold, when i was ripping it around town.

i just put a new egr valve on my car and played around with the acceleration cable etc. but i don't think this problem is caused by me playing around with the cable. anyway, now when i start the engine, the car rattles loudly and like its gonna stall before it realises and goes to the normal idling speed. also, if the engine ain't been used for a while, the rattling will go on for ages till car is warmed up. it does sound rough. anyone offer help???? P.S its hard brand new spark plugs in there.:rolleyes:
