On Track you'll find it will get pretty damn hot, thing is you needa thermostat take off plate otherwsie you'd have to swap between driving on track and normal use.

Stu - It was from Pro-Tec. 10mm thick aluminium; much more rigid than the 6mm guards apparently and better for handling too. Yes, they do sit low - had to raise the coliovers a few notches to stop bottoming out, but OK now even on very lumpy B roads at speed

But only worth bothering if the oil is reaching over 130-140degC, get a temp sensor in there and find out for yourself first. Raldes will do a sensor which replaces the sump plug and gauge for abotu £30 inc P&P

I think there whould be room in the drivers side of my bumper - there is a big vent there too - i'm going to attatch it to the black metal bar the goes across the back of the bumper (crash pannel?) might need to attatch a piece of angle iron to it to make a bracket, but I think there whould be room. Not sure if there would be room behind standard bumpers though...

I'm going to fit the oil cooler to my car - seeing as its plumbed into the engine already and my bonnet doesn't really do the cooling of my engine any favours.

but the astras didn't with the same engine, so again, is it really necessary.
