Your front engine mount should be fine i think they are th same.

You just need the tensioner from the 1.4, very difficult to take a picture of it in the car!

no you dont want to go the v belt route long way round!

well my car has electronic powersteering, so it may already have the engine mount I need, however as its a newer technology lump(one of the x12xe) and as the wiring loom was different it mite gimme a headache lol so wot Im looking for is an SRi lump in a breakers to whip the alternator and bracket off and the v belt tensioner ur saying?

i changed a p/s c16xe to non p/s
i used a sri bottom v'belt pulley
put a v#belt pulley on the alt of a 1.48v well i used the 1.4 8v alt then used a 1.48v vbelt

the p/s pump and tensionr come off and you will need a engine mount as its biult into the p/s pump assenbly

then change the rack to a non p/s one and loose the resivoir and all pipeing

oh and get new track rod ends and get it tracked afterwards
hope this helps

dont be silly robert. if the pump is just acting as a tensioner then the belt is turning in the same direction, whether its there or not. If you fitted a smaller belt it would remove the need for the tensioner, but all the pulleys will still spin the same direction.

science lecture over

would the rack not be damaged driving for that long with no fluid being pumped to it....?

Would the steering rack be different on a PAS / non-PAS Corsa?

Greasemonkey

posted on 1st Sep 04 at 08:23

yes that is correct, the cam belt only runs the water pump, and oil pump, the auxillery drives, alternator and PAS

Siberia

so the pump is driven byt he aux belt then?

^ edited that last post cos its made no sense

the auxillery drive belt has its own tensioner, the PAS just unbolts you will need a non powersteering engine mount which you probably already have.
Try and find a smaller belt that fits i suppose

oh didnt know this... is it on the timing belt or the auxilary belt?

i'm buying a c16XE at the weekend so need to know.

my c16xe lump has a power steering pump on it and i believe it acts as a tensioner, does anyone know how I can get rid of the PAS pump and power steering on the car?
