wasnt the actual pulley but the keyway on the crank that had worn. luckily it wasnt that bad and so i just realigned it and packed it with some locktite just to make sure, but if you need a new crank then its probably cheaper to stick a 2litre in

with mine, the keyway on the bottom pulley that sits on the end of the crank had worn causing the timing to slip out.

may be worth checking, just my 2ps worth

is that pulley expensive? cos i know wen i had my belt dubn there was a bit play on it, so it might hav gone now

most cars will perform better when cold. but if its a drastic reduction in performance when your runnin warm then it could be piston rings.
mines is awful at pullin off when i've been sittin in traffic heatin up, so thats what i'm gettin done, then i'm sellin it.

try doin what i said with the exhaust emissions. you could also try changin the spark plugs, cos its cheap. you can tell a lot about a engines condition from the plugs and emissions.

i notice you said it only pulls in 3rd gear, could it be some kind of gearbox or drivetrain problem? these are things which might not show up on a computer but i don't know much about that kinda thing. just a guess!

oh and try this

wait till the engines cold.
start it. rev it to 2500rpm and hold it there for 20 seconds
let it idle.
jump out and check what colour smoke/steam is comin from your exhaust.

could annoy your neighbours if you've got a loud exhaust :)

does it pull away better when you first start a journey then get worse as the engine gets warmed up?

or

does it perform better first thing in the morning or late at night rather than through the day?

i've got more or less the same problems with my 1.4 sri 16v. mines has had the head gasket done and its gettin new piston rings. if you've got an induction kit on it my advice would be to get rid of it. thats why your running rich. i put the standard airbox back on mine and saw a big improvement.

Air temp sensor or collant temp sensor?
Usually the second sensor is responsible for all kind of weird problems!!
Try to disconnect this sensor and see what happens, if it run okay it's a sensor problem, or plug miscontact:mad:

It happened to me:mad:

Its flat - put ya foot down nothing happens
its starting to pop, mostly wen changign down gears
a constant jerking happens too between k - 3k revs
its over fueling
and it dusnt like pulling away - if i take it to 4k to pull away, buy the time i've moved the revs had dropped tht much its nearly stalling..
