yes you will need a new split pin and the castle nut just undos with a big spannar
split pin and motor store should carry em

why you taking drum off?

How do I remove the castle nut ?

Remove the wheel.
Remove the dust cap from the center of the drum.
Undo the Castle Nut on the stub axle.
Pull drum off.
Clean the brake dust off with a wire brush if you need to.
Do not paint the drum red or any other colour.
Re-fit.

Someone give me a step by step guide on how to do this please, and would a wire brush be suitable for getting out all the brake dust ?
