1) could be ICV (idle control valve) or airflow meter poss?
2) Temp sensor or Thermostat or Head gasget gone or even fan may not be cutting in so fan switch?
3) Valve lifters can be easily sorted by a new set of possiblysoaking the old ones in degreeaser to unblock them. Knocking bottom end would be worrying tho
4)If cable driven might have come loose from the back of the dials, if electronic might need a new sender
5) tighten it
7) Brakes pads/shoes low, fluid renewal needed, just renew fluid and bleed and new discs and pads

c20xe's and the c20lets are same block designs, they do run very hot, they perform better at higher constant speeds, but as we al know there should be
sufficient cooling, also eratic idle due to faulty oil pressure switch, its either leaking or mucky, replace it

1) its idling up and down, not sounding too well = fault 41 on diagnostic computer, clean ICV or replace oil pressure switch
2) overheating = Could be due to number 1 or problems with headgasket?
3) slightly tappy = Possibley a worn engine, getting slight engine knock or maybe low oil? boot it for a few miles and try n get oil flowing in the lump
4) speedo dont work = Snapped cable? or maybe the speedo rotor has lost a few teeth
5) gear selector feels loose = Could be linkage problem or maybe you've not tightened something up right on the gear rod
6) as i went to drive off back wheel at passenger sides was'nt movin but then started to move = Brake shoe might be sticking, may be a good idea to leave the car in 4th gear with handbrake off in future then compare it
7)brake pedal low with abs light on = Worn your brakes out mate?

hmmm i aint too good with these things anyone kno whats causin these problems
