When i did mine i didnt take the driveshafts out of the gearbox :o

It was tricky to say the least. But we removed one of the tie rods to make room.

You are best off removing the radiator totally - two bolts is all that holds it in place... Cos they are well easy to damage.

great. cheers.
may as well drop the whole lot though if the mount and bush have to be dropped just too get the bar out of the bush.

Three long bolts holding the tie bar mount to the bodywork bar then one nut holding the tie bar into the mount.
Replace bushes with Powerflex while you're there ;)

in the middle of dropping the engine from my gsi.
had a look last night at the tie bars which haynes says need to come out.
i'm not entirely convinced that they do, but if so, is it best to get the bolt off the end and withdraw it from the bush, or remove the bush holder and bar all together as one unit?
if it's the first option, what size nut is it at the end of the bar? i jump between 19mm and 24mm, and i think it's between theres somewhere. no room to get an adjustable in or even a ring spanner.

any guidance or advice gratefully recieved
