if it does turn out to be a head gasket.... its really simple on the 1.2 8v to do it yerself.

think of it this way its gonna cost about 500 quid to get a garage to do it.

a 1.6 conversion will only cost ya 700....

The hardest part is the timing bit, you got a Haynes manual? Read up on it tonight, not difficult, especially on the 8v's.

By the way, whats the symptoms you been gettin?

now spraying yer thats fair i give that a wizz and done a pucker job
you can come and do it if you like i will watch and learn on this one
gonna shop around in morning see if i can get someone to do a cash in hand job on it

Go for it mate, if I adopted that attitude I'd have forked out £360 to get my spraying done instead of £40 on materials and learning to do it...

Might be an idea to leave it til you come back from hols tho, should be driveable just dont rag it

im not that brave was thinking about it but thats all i will do think about it lol

Should be about 400 IIRC, its mostly labour costs as is takes time to dismantle all the engine and timing components, change the gasket, then reassemble it all...

Could always try doin it yourself?
