wire the led to live and to ignition live, wen the ignition is on, it has two lives and does not flash, when the ignition is off, it has a live and an earth and flashes, job done

An LED is a Light Emiting Diode, now its like a normal Diode but, you guessed it, it emmits light.

I diode is like a one way valve for electricity, it only lets if flow in one direction, thats why LEDs must be fitted the right way or they don't work.

With the ignition off power from the permenant live can flow the right way through the LED, but as soon as there's a current comming the other way from the ignition the LED cant let the power through which also stops power comming the other way. Look at it as a one way system in a tunnel, when traffic comes the wrong way the whole thing shuts down. Thus stopping the LED from working, and Voila, it don't flash no more :D

fucking hell i didnt ask how they worked, only wot wire to connect it to!

Electricity, you need a live and an earth, or do you? I've found an interesting solution - feed one LED wire an ignition live, and the other a permanent live. This doesnt blow the LED like you'd think, but when it gets two lives it stops working - therefore, this way, when the ignition's on, the LED's don't Flash.

It will work, trust me:thumbs:

Hmm, it might work. Depends on whether the ign switch on the car earths when it's off.

Aint got the scientific reason but it will find its way to earth and flash, have done this before in my old car and it duz work, its written in the Haynes Corsa modding manual 2, but its for flashing door pins.

Maplin Electronice sell them >>>>Click here<<<< bout 1.99 I think. To get it to flash when ignition is off, wire the +ive side to a permanent live and the -ive side to the ignition +ve of your choice (eg. 1,2) so when theres a supply of 2 +ive's it wont flash, but when only the permanent it will flash
