ull be fine lowered 45mm on et 45 wheels mate, may need to knock the bolts off the arches
no big deal tho

mines dropped 60mm on 16's mate. so long as your wheels are the right offset and you get some very low profile tyres they probably wont rub either... until you get some mates in the back that is!

i'd say your best lowering 60mm on 16's, the arch sits perfectly on top of the wheel and theres very little rubbing at all.
you'd be best to get the full set up but if your on a budget, just springs is fine.

springs 60-120
springs and damper set 250-500

fitting springs 70-130
fitting susp kit 200 +

depend if you want performance or looks mate, if you just ponder about in ya car and dont race about get the springs but if ya do get a kit!

if ya need help fitting ask about if you dont have the ££££

and yes 35mm would be better, but even if u did go for 45mm, the how can the petrol supply be effected?

Ive got mine down 55-60mm at the moment, many people have theres down alot further with no problems, u sure hes a machanic? sound slike a right cowboy

£230  getting ur pants pulled down mate

Go and buy the springs, then go round a few local garages and ask how much they charge to fit a set of springs. Theres no difference in fitting aftermarket springs than there is fitting OE springs
