This is because Vauxhall and some other manufacturer's dont follow the complete ISO standard and the ignition and permanent lives are reversed.

Spent 2 hrs blowing fuse's until I saw this thread.
No way to guess about switching wires... I assumed
it would be just red/red yellow/yellow... Bl**dy Wiring!

I had to wires with connectors on them. One yellow and one red. I just undid the connectors and connected them to the opposite colour.

So instead of:

Yellow to yellow and red to red it was

Yellow to red and red to yellow.

Hope that makes sense!

awrite guys- seen this post,was wanna do it myself too......but don really understand it!!(this post) is it jus a case of switchin over 2 wires=on all headunits?

the red and black one, but on the head unit it will be yellow and red. the switch'd and perm live

Can anybody tell me which wires need to be swapped around so that the headunit keeps it's memory and have you got any instructions on how to do this as I haven't done it before!
