This happened when I amped my components, it turned out the amp was knackered.

does the sound increase in pitch when he punts it? Does the crackling sound stay on, or is like short bursts? If its the later, it could be spikes on the power line...might be worth checking with a scope mate :)

i would also test the output with a scope from the amp, like preouts on the amp as well as speaker outs and see if the sine-wave is becoming distorted. Test it before the amp (preouts from HU) and after as it will tell you if the amp is fooked or its the HU :)

Alright

fitted an amp sub components system to me mates car.

first day he had it no problems

second day a crackling like static kept coming from the speakers

stopped from a while

today hes popped round been for a drive really loud noise like static crackling tho speakers but only on bumpy roads.

I have checked the earth its fine both ends. the noise is coming from mids tweets and sub so its something coming from the amp. dunno if its coming from the headunit and just getting amplified from the amp into the speakers. or if his amp is fucked its a jbl gto amp brand new hes dropping em an email. his power cable is run down the left hand side of his car and the phono down the right. I had the same setup with no problems at all of interference.

just wondering if anybody could shed some light on it.?

cable nicked?
amp fucked?
something else?
I dunno

do you?

cheers lads
