this is what most people think is the egr valve (see pic), but this is the secondary air valve. This is o.k. to remove.

I dont think u can remove the egr valve as u will lose all the water out of ur car, and u will have a big hole at one end of ur engine.

Sadly you can;t do the paperclip test on your car.

It will be the Motronic 1.5.5 ecu used in 1.2 16v and 1.0 12v.

You have to get the code from a compatible code reader (probably best asking vauxhall)

this paperclip test, can it be done on a X12XE (corsaB 1.2 16v) engine and what do you do? My Managagement light has recently come on and its reving funny, 80% sure it will be the ICV but want a readout to confirm...

unplugging the egr makes the light come on

blanking off the egr by making a new gasket with almost anything similar to a sheet of aluminium or a 5 pence and then plugging the egr back in will take the light off and stop it comin on again

as for actually removing the egr valve i have no idea

just the light coming on cars running perfect

on a 1.6 engine i cant 100% say where it is but it will be around the manifold somewhere as it works on recirculating gas from there

there are 2 bolts to remove and £3 will get u a can of carb cleaner just squirt it in and around the valve to clean it up

are u havin any running problems or is it just the light comin on?

cheers few questions

where would it be???? on a 1.6 engine?

how do u mean clean it with carb cleaner inside it n that?

is it hard to take off?many bolts?

locate the egr valve on ure car and give it a good clean with carb cleaner as they get carbed up. if this doesnt help then u may need to replace it but when mine played up on the vectra i just disconnected it with the intention of blanking it off just never got round to doing it although it is easy to do and totally harmless as its a useless piece of equipment anyway
