I've done it, thats the thing..... both the holes line up perfectly.......

But my gearbox hasnt moved out of the car :(

Its just the same gearbox as before.
Havent disconnected the linkage or anything at all from it..... so it should still be aligned fine.

My thots are that the problem lies in the part of the gearbox which chooses the gear if you know what i mean....... the part where you either push the plunger in, or use a drill bit.

Think it may be seized or possibly knocked the reverse out of place etc.....

The gearstick does move into the reverse position... however it is still first gear :( :boggle:

tis very very easy
sibria it read like the haynes one cos simply it works :D and i did do it
coz i change the whole engine, gear linkage was one of the easy jobs :lol:

I thought the gear linkage was a piece of piss to disconnect reconnect and setup.

nice tutorial there. copied straight of the haynes manual:lol:

i was pissing around with the linkage for about an hour when i changed my gearbox. i then read the haynes and had it sorted in 5 mins:lol:

Aliba: i may be wrong but your problem sounds very like the linkage is not done properly

I had the same problem when i got mine but i took it to a gearbox specialist and i think they put diff linkage in.

Fianally got my 12V engine replaced, and running.......... except it doesnt reverse!!!

Even if i take the gator off, and it looks as if its in reverse..... i.e. following the groove. Its still moves forward in 1st :boggle:

Help :(
