vauxhall recomended every 40k to me.

(even though i haven't got a belt..... mines a chain and good for lots more miles)

It should be changed at least every 60k miles. Its called timing belt or cam belt, in the black cover.

how do i know when this needs changing?

and is the cam belt the one which is inside a black cover thing and what is that belt called that is spinning around, it looks like a bike chain.
