Doesn't that upset the balance of the engine? Is that how all single turbo V6's work? I thought the turbo would be further down the exhaust system, once the 2 heads exhausts had merged.

yeah

So only 3 cylinders drive the turbo?

i think i would like to source a lotus carlton engine :P

Saab set up is a single turbo on one side. Beardy wouldn't i be easier to source the whole Saab engine loom ecu etc.... as it's design to run like that already?? Probably the complete and cheapest option. Just a thought.

Stop me if Im wrong, but wouldn't you need twin turbos if your using an exhaust manifold like that?

i was thinkin exactely the same as u but bein female i didnt like to say anything :o

Charge cooler would go between the inlet and turbo, not sure about water pumps and things though.

Surely you could take the oil feed from a cooler sandwich plate, then you have a feed and a return, just run an oil cooler inline with it.

Thats cause Vx don't do a turbo V6, it's a Saab v6 turbo based on the VX lump you know ;)

You'll need oil supply (off the pump) and return (in to the sump)
After market ecu if you intend to run more than about 6psi (e.g emerald 600+235mapping)
You need to lower the compression ratio, thick head gasket or if you intend to run high power then forged Pistons (700-800, oh and rods 1000)
Then you need to mod the block to ensure pistons 5&6 don't melt due to poor cooling.
Bigger injectors, and re-profiled cams for a turbo app.
Oh and a oil cooler too.

5th injector cheaper then ECU

If it pays for the car who cares

i looked into it already ;)

hmm thinking about it maybe not, yes it is used o you can run a different il cooler. think the oil feed on my td comes from the block.
you will probably also need some kind of dumpvalve, an amal valve actuator etc.. wat about cams? turbos tend to run different cams, fuel pump too. mine has 2 settings, one for normal fuel adjustment and one which you can set too supply extra fuel whilist on boost. perhaps you may need one from an let etc...

will that give a oil feed? i was just thinking the sandwich block was to cool the oil getting in and out of the filter?

how would u take a feel from it?

Kris TD

posted on 16th Mar 04 at 18:14

may have to use a sandwich block to get an oil feed. meens you can then run a front mounted oil cooler too.

what more would i need other than the below??
Pipeing
already got a Charge Cooler
Oil Feel
5th injector

How have/would people go about the below??
Taking a Oil feed from the engine
Piping in the Charge Cooler

anything else people can think of other than a bloody good rolling road set up?
