i had a similar problem when I used to boot it a bit my car spluttered, this didn't happen all the time though. | |

could also be a sticky valve these engine suffer from this quite a bit, think its a head off job though | |

I would do a compression test to make sure ya got decent compression in all ya cylinders and that they are in tollorance with eachother, my GSI started doing this before i had the engine re-built, could be ECU, brosters car did a similar thing and it was sourced as an ecu problem, if ya got a C16XE i got a spare ECU you could borrow to see if it sorts the problem | |

Some have a temp sensor which tells the ECU if the car has warmed up or not and adds fuel like a choke. If thats faulty then it'll over fuel which may or may not lead to black smoke, depending on your cat and the actual car. | |

just put a set of plugs in, seems like its gone a better, ill do leads tomorrow then reset the ecu and see how we go, let u lot know how i get on! | |
