i just been out in me new 1.3 diesel corsa with trade plates on and when u come off throttle then you can hear it dumping dead loud!!!

ur very wrong "pick up"

all turbo diesels run enough boost as stanard. Many run alot higher boost than petrol turbo cars.

As standard, a 306 dturbo runs 1 bar. The 1.8td ford block runs around 0.8 bar. Both wil dump boost, pretty loudly.

there is also no "chance" involved with a properly fitted dump valve. my 306 dumps wheneva i want it too as long as the boost is there. the same wud go for the same d/v on any td.

The dump valve itself will be exactly the same as from a petrol car. As with most things, the better quality, the better the sound/reliability etc. so splash out and get a good quality twin piston D/V.

However, as Turbo Diesels dont create the same vacuum in the inlet manifold that petrol cars do, so u have to use a different set up. As Kris says, there is no "off-the-shelf" kits, but there are few people that put kits together themselves. The kits comprise of:

*Air stopping Solenoid
*Microswitch
*T piece (which will be piped into the brake vacuum line)
*Approapriate wiring etc

People like allardturbosport.co.uk sell the kit, but its an absolutely shite dump valve. Very quiet and prone to releasing boost over 17PSi.

The best one i've seen is the one i have. thedervdoctor.co.uk will fit and supply a collins performance D/V for a nice price. He's a derv expert. Definately worth visiting the site.
