May I recomend a nice JL W3. Well tried and tested, loverly subs however you may just want to click the gain down a touch. Im running two 12" typeR's with two M500's (one hooked to each). When I just run one it sounds loverly, very SQ and just the right level of bass. May I also recomend that if you do choose type R you want a 0.9-1.0 CuFt sealed box, mine are in 0.75's and they are a tad too small and peaky, tried them in many boxes and 1.0 CuFt sounds sweet, just struggle to fit them in my boot with such large boxes....

ok, cheers.

i am only going to be running one sub for sure, its not about volume for me, i`m a SQ nutter.....lol

i will be running the single with the big power behind it so that nothing will be lacking power at all.

just remeber if u get 1 dual voice coil sub and ya thinkin of adding another 1 at a later date your better with dual 2 ohm voice coils. We had this discussion bout mine i think, lol.
1 dual 4 ohm sub= 2 or 8 ohms
1 dual 2 ohm sub= 1 or 4 ohms
2 dual 4 ohm subs= 1 or 4 ohms
2 dual 2 ohm subs = 0.5 or 2 ohms

I know you probably knew that but just didnt want u 2 do what ive done n get forced into runnin at 1 ohm, lol.

PS. Nothing against Alpine but i got rid of a Type R for JL W3 and there is no comparison. JL is about £40 more but it shows

hey

i am looking to buy a new 12" sub, or two, soon. i aint rich by any means and have around 150 to spend.

i will be running the sub(s) off a alpine M500 mono amp giving 500w rms into 2ohm.

at the moment i am considering a brand new alpine type R 12" with the dual voice coils so i can run it at 2ohm and turn the gain down a bit. or i have been offered two fussion 400w max subs for £50. now i can run those in parallel to get the 2ohm.

what ya all think?

any other ideas then please say................. :boggle:
