When i was trying to remove the mfd i did have a bit of a struggle, there was a white cable tie tolding the wire to the casing on the back and that caused me at least 15 mins to prise it off & i did have to plug it on and off a fare few times as well, ive looked at the pins on the unit itself and prodded them all directions and not one of them moves in the slightest they all seem solid

The leds in your mfd are exactly the same as the bulbs you took out, they will come on and go off exactly like the original bulbs. If they are staying on, I would put money on it being the plug that goes into the back of the mfd, its so easy to damage one of the pins, especially on the socket on the back of the actual unit. Look at the plug on the back of the mfd, you'll see 10 pins, see if they are all in place and don't move about. When these are made, there is no where near enough solder to keep it in place. I've had a few duff mfd's, touching the solder joints on these pins with a hot iron usually gets them going again.

There are 12 little pins in the connecting block. The only thing that holds them on are tiny bits of solder. DON'T RAG IT!

£200!!!! blimey!! i'll try some vauxhall scrappers 1st. Cheers for the advice neil, i assume they are very easy to damage(not something i was aware off when i embarked on removing it today!).i'll be sure to be careful

£200 + from vauxhall.

£5 from scrapyard but did not work.

Took another trip and robbed one!

Advice - get one from scrappy that ain't been got at and snip off the connecting plug and a bit of wire whilst still attached to the unit. Then either take it off CAREFULLY or leave it in and solder to your current MFD loom.

f**k!!!! had a feeling it might be the unit, that'll teach me for wanting a blue lit mfd!

just out of interest how much did you pay for a new unit?

It's fcuked. I had the same problem. Only way to get it off was to take the fuse out. You probably damaged the plug connectors in the unit. Trip to the scrapyard and deep pockets mate:thumbs:

lol @ greg, no mate i didnt have the key in but thanks. Corser - i have unplugged it and plugged it back in a fare few times today, everything else works.is it more likely ive broken the unit itself or the plug, coz i get the feeling i proberbly have :boggle:

sometimes when you take out the plug at the back of the unit it can be very picky. if you took it out wrong you may have broken some of the pins inside, so its not doing what it should
