Standard hose coming from the block, splitting into 2. 1 small one goes to the intake/throttle body, and the other goes inside the bulkhead of the car. Possible to the heater matrix?

it looks like its attached to the throttle body too though. Let me go have another look!

you will need to bleed the coolant system afterwards though, might be a good excuse to flush the system and put in some new coolant/antifreeze

dont need vauxhall for that, its held in place by jubilee clips, get down to halfords and take it with you, and just buy some hose cut to the right length.

Thats where the water is coming from!

Looks like it is just a hose, but its not one that is easy to get at. Does anyone know what its called so i can ask for a new part at the vx garage?

nah wouldnt attempt it if your a novice, it requires takin off the cam belt which means putting it back on in the right place. take to a garage, shouldnt be too expensive, hopefully its just a split in the pipe. one thing you could check is the temperature sensor, very slim chance but it could have come loose. thats in that area.

it started steaming really badly about 300m away from my house, so i thought i should get it there so at least its safe. I will look properly in the morning in the light/ If its the water pump, could a novice replace it, and what sort of price am i looking at?

Waterpump is at the bottom back of the engine by where you are looking. If it appears to fall out of the bottom side of the engine then its most probably the water pump.

looking at where that water is it could be water pump cos that pipe to the rad looks ok

driving it home was a stupid thing to do though you could have blown head gasket now.

refill the coolant tank & start up the engine with the bonnet open

let it run till you see where the water is coming from & then stop engine

sounds like a coolant hose, I had one go about 6 months after I got my corsa, it had rotted from the inside & split, couldnt see it until I did what i said up above & then it started spraying everywhere!

£14 from vaux for a new hose, and it was drivers side too!

When i squeeze this pipe, i can hear it gurgling. I never squeezed that pipe before though so i dont know if its normal!

Mistamist

reckon it could be a stone bust the one of the pipes that goes along the rad.

would need to see the car really, seems odd tho

I was driving along normally then realised that the revs were staying about 1500 to 1800 with the clutch down. Knew something was wrong, but its happened before in the past cos of the idle control valve so i wasnt too worried. Then about 2 mins later, steam starting coming from the bonnet so i drove home (only a couple of mins away). I opened the bonnet, and there is water all over the driver side of the engine bay (to the left of the engine, not from the middle) but its too dark for me to see properly. Do you think a water hose might have come off, or the pump is knackered? Any ohter sugestions please, and how serious could it be?! Matt
