depends on how u set up the amp though! and yes to run an amp, u need a positive from your battery, a ground from any good chassis point, and a switch wire, usually known as the remote, rca's go to the back of ya h/unit so does the remote wire, usually connects to a blue with a white trace wire but should say in the h/unit manual, then connect your speakers to the amp with decent speaker cable, + to + and - to -;)

u have to connect the RCA leads as these carry the sound to the amp, connect your remote cable to the amp so it turns on with the head unit, connect power to the amp (fused) and then connect your speakers to the amp, job done.

if you have a sub then then wire the sub`s amp to the head unit this will cause the head unit to send the base to the sub, cant think of a reason why you would want to connect the amp the the head unit

so connect old standard speaker wire from old speakers to amp, then wire up new speakers to amp, the RCA to the h/unit, the power to battery?

like this i think, left and right wire in to the amp then from the amp to the speakers then power it from your battery, all you need to do is use the wire that goes to the original back speakers then run that to the amp theb run some wire from the amp to the 6x9`s then a wire to ur battery. just hold on and see if any one else give any ideas first
