Its the same dimensions as the 2.0 I think. I think the engine is a longer stroke only, same bore size to 2.0, have to find specs.

I have not bought it yet, I am going to try and get a bit more info.

Does it actually fit in the engine bay? I was consiering it but was told by someone that it wouldn't fit, they didint say why though.

The engine is the same way round yep.

Mate who traded his 2.0 Sri in for a 2.2 Sri reckons its a lot quicker, said the 2.0 got beaten by his mates 106 GTI, but his 2.2 pulls is as quick and lots quicker over 100 mph. Thats going to be goos performance in a Corsa then.

The makority of the wiring uses same codes and connectors, with the need to make certain bits, the ECU amongst other things needs its own bit of harness.

Yes the inlet is on the front. Its an excellent engine, I had one in my first Astra. Not much known about the conversion though.

Is it not the other way round compered to a red top engine ie exhaust out of the back of the engine inlet in the front

Its got more torque at lower revs and a higher peak torque than the red cap, power quoted at 147 at 5800 rpm, so its less powerful, but its less peaky, having seen it in vx220's in a dyno report in a magazine it makes more than that, but then again most Vaux/Opel do. You would not have to rev it as much, but this would warrant a clever set of gear ratios, you could pull a high final drive because of all the torque and light weight, otherwise low gearing its going to be swerving all over the road like a Maestro Turbo.

electrics will cause you problems unless you are already an electrician!

It will go in yes, your best off speaking to a big company like courtenay for advice.

More torque than a redtop as standard. 2.2 16v engines are good lumps.

Does that come with ecu and immobiliser ecu or else it gets very expensive.
All alloy so lighter than the red top.
Think Mtec (PVD) do a fitting kit !

Its lighter, by 9KG.
The other point of going for one, is the Astra 2.2 SRI is a pretty rapid motor, I've driven the 2.0 SRi and the 2.2 eats it in the gears, both later ecotecs I'm not on about the old GTE and GSi.

I have been offered a 2.2 Ecotec from a Vectra 2.2, last shape, written off, engine has covered 34,000 miles and had been looked after.

This engine produduces 145 bhp and a good strong torque curve.

Is this gonna be a ball ache stuffing it into a Corsa C ?

What gearbox and associated parts ? Money is not a problem as the engine will onyl cost me 300 quid with all the bits.

If I end up with about 155 bhp after a custom powerflow system, and K&n and any other easy tuning bits, is it gonna offer performance of the older 2.0, i.e be faster than tin foil cars like a VTS ?

Will also be looking at brakes and suspension, the main point is the novelty value if a 2.2 Corsa.
