Yeah i was gonna say it dont sound like ya lifeter though, like venom said, when was ya last cambelt change they make strange noises normally before the belt snaps or a tensioner or pulley lets go

they wont get quiter if they r knackered, mine were, i put new lifters in my GSI and it sounds so sweet without the ticking, when ya rev the engine its sounds soooo much better

my lifters was like that. it may also be the ball bearing in the dynamo. if it is get it checked at once. if that bearing breaks the dynamo stops and so does the belt. and that can get really expensive. the opel dealership refused me to leave when they found out. so they gave me a signum to use while they fixed it.

nackered pulleys?
cambelt a bit slack?
dont think it will be hydraulic lifter springs as the usually get quieter as the engine warms up

when i turn my car on it ticks really loudly and doesnt stop when u drive. it's intensity picks up as the revs build up. any ideas what it could be?
