btw, i would use a key switch rather than a normal flick switch, because it adds a little more security to thing - ie: if someone did find it, they couldnt just press it and get into your car etc you would need a key to activate the switch :)

quote: yea i was about to say this  Just run a seperate circuit that checks the voltage of your battery and if its below a certain voltage, my Central locking works with about 1.5v in the battery (thanks to me leaving the lights on  ), it switches over to a little 12v battery (maplins -HERE) and under the car you have a key switch (look in maplins) to activate the circuit :) So you still have a key system to get into your car

keep a battery in the boot that is for the sole purpose or popping the locks, have a switch hidden outside the car so if the battery under the bonnet goes flat you got a back up switch

when i had everything smoothed off my nova i ran two insulated wires to outside the car, so if the battery went flat, i could power the locks on an external battery or jumpr from another car. did help once which was a god send.

i am wondering this i have no door handles so if anything goes wrong with the doors i have a remote reciver on the smooth tail gate so i can get in the car but if the battery went flat this would be useless

quote: just given me an idea mate....could run and extension to the button that pops the boot onto the exterior of the car (with a waterproof switch) where in the event of it all going tits up, i can slip under the car and press the button. hmmm, but if theres not battery power, that might still not work!

I have heard of people having a mechanical means into the car that can be used in emergencies hidden away

Im thinking of putting some door handles on without the locks on it. The cars all alarmed with cl etc so that wont be a problem. |
