speak 2 bromley boy he has a fibreglass pannel on his 1 dun rele well and solid fadcorsa also has 1 aswell

they normally weld over the gap, i would just fill it with foam first cos one it will give strength, 2 it will sound deaden part of the boot and absorb shock, 3 it saves shoving loads of filler in there instead.

i was wondering that aswell, when you open your boot, what does the bottom of it look like where there is a gap between old boot and new metal skin??
I take it they dont leave a hole?????

does the foam stop flex and prevent cracking of the filler????? and what does the underside of a smooth boot look like you know what do they do with the bit you fill with foam to cover the gap if ya get me

fibreglass matt it,
fibreglass filler it
bodyfill it
fill in the gap with expanding foam.

I know tell me about it, got in an accident that wernt my fault so claimed off there insurance, thinking i was smart i took the car to the best bodyshop and most expensive i could find, they are re-spraying the rear of the car so thought feck it save money now and get it done, they were like no thats gonna take allot of work cos once done it will be perfect

Welding all the way matey its a safer option allot less likely to crack, i am getting my boot done at the mo and am being charged like over £400 for it

yeh thats the only thing, people charge big money for this job. my mate at the garage will weld the plates in. i jus gotta fill it and smooth it all off. dont see it being too hard.

if you any good at welding and using body filler then do it your self, save ur self alot of money. worth getting a bit of advice at a body shop, just getting a professional finish is the hard bit, best bet is to get it finished of at a body shop, or the whole thing done for about 200.

weld a plate over the numberplate recess, sand it down, then get some fiberglass and filelr on it, do the same for the boot lock and wiper hole

gonna pick one up off a mate as a spare, any advice on the best way to
smooth it. and dont jus say umm go to the garage mate!
