Stainless will only last for a long time if it is good quality stainless. There are many different standards, and these are 'normally' reflected in the price.
As an example, we use a lot of aircraft spec stainless at work, and a sheet 2m x 1.25m would typically cost £500 compared to £45 for commercial spec.
The aircraft spec stuff is more pure.

mild steel is made if mail steel and stailess steel is made of stainless steel:lol:

there is no difference in sound. but mild steel will last about 18months and stainless will last for life!:thumbs:

They would be different designs anyway, but no difference in sound, mild steel ones usually have stainless insides and painted body
