check the oil hose which goes to cam housing (looking at front from car, where dizzy is, back of cam housing, about 2 inches in from dizzy), its a real shitter of a hose, and a weak spot too, can become worn & leak

also check for leaks around the dizzy too, the o-ring used isn't really brilliant

Will do. I cleaned it a while back just to make certain it was leaking and not spilt oil.

your best bet is to clean all oil thats spilled out onto your engine and components. and just keep an eye on the leak day by day, you'll eventually trace it to where its coming from

No I replaced the rocker cover gasket only a month ago. Not exactly sure about where this oil comes from. Its definetly from above the head-gasket level. There is no creamy stuff in oil cap, no loss of oil.

plus the threads are soooo easy to fek up in the head & then you need to use a longer bolt - is never the same after you do that though!

might sound daft but tighten to headcasing on TOO tight can also bust them, happened so many times to me when the local garage trainee thinks 'holy pants, thats not tight enough, must tighten head '

could also be a cork gasket, more common on 1.2 8v's.

either replace the cork gasket, or get a new roker-cover from vaux or a scrappy for an 8v which takes rubber gaskets, they last much longer

visual signs of headgasket could be...
creamy substance on oil cap
oil contamination in coolant
excessive loss of coolant, oil or both

as for rod bolt, small bits of metal may be in the oil, only minute amounts, but would be more noticeable by the sound & loss of power / big hole in side of block when it finally gives way completely

Whats the visual signs tho. I have small (tiny) drops of oil coming from somewhere and resting on the flat part near the dipstick. :boggle:

failed plugs were causing this on my dads car

£10 for a set of 4 spark plugs later, problem solved.

Got a corsa B sri 8v, and last night it was making loud banging noises and then cutting out whenever i stopped, it lost all power and sounded like shit

does anyone know what might have gone wrong?
