wont be getting the proper cable till friday as they gave me the wrong 1 in the motor factors the first time around so we will see then.

if it works that paper clip test is excellent and beats paying the mad figures theyd charge u down in vauxhaul

kinda happy now hope its that

could be a whole host of things - get the fault code instead of taking wild stabs in the dark at what it could be

could be EGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation) - which is prone to going faulty after timing belt changes. If your idle revs start misbehaving then it may be this.

i was just out there at the car fitting a new cable the old one was snaped

motor factor gave me the wrong cable:rolleyes: its about 3 inchs 2 short idiots

anyways i was looking under the car and found a cable just hangin there

it fits onto a sensor thats located on the right hand strut looking at the car front the front. The sensor seems to be to let u know the bonnet is closed??

wonder if this would be the problem.

the speedo was fine up untill last week then it just stoped working

the light had came on twice before that the first time i pulled into the side of the road switched the engine off then back on again and it cleared it and it didnt come back on again for another 2 weeks. This time it came on when i was in traffic and then it just went off again. The the speedo broke last week just before i was about to drive a 250 mile journey . about 10 mins into the drive the light came on again and would clear itself this time. i pulled in a few times and turn the engine off and on again this would clear it for around 10 mins then it would be back on again. drove the whole journey with it on and had no trouble

im not running any induction(yet:lol:)

The car isnt fuel injected to the best of my knowledge so no paperclip test? its a 1994 merit model.

I think your speedo might be the problem, i think the speedo is used to calculate something, was the speedo not working when you had the cam belt etc changed, or did this problem occur straight after it stoppped working

Right i know this could be anything but the engine managment light keeps coming on on my 1.2 8v.

It can be grand for hours then it comes on seems to be when i throw the car around a bit or at high rev on da motorway.

Had a timing belt and temp sensor done on it about 2 months ago seems like it started soon after that. Up to recently the light sometimes just went off itself but now it wont . If i pull in and turn off the engine then turn it back on the light will stay off for a while depending on the way im driving.
Theres no performance problems at all, the car runs fine when the light is on.

Should mention the speedommeter isnt working im wondering has that got anything to do with it or is it maybe a loose sensor

Any ideas?
