yep cold air feeds are the answer, of get a viper, i got a viper on my 1.6 and without the air feed it does what yours is doing put the cold air feed on and its fine, sounds better without though LOL

take it off and replace it with a panel filter and drilled out airbox.

try and build a surround to protect it from the heat...

hot air being scked in mate
get plenty of cold air feeds to it
Some people sat reset the ECU,don't know if it really does anything but thats also worth a try

Ive just fitted a pipercross induction kit to my 1.6 sport, it sounds awsome but i get a lot of flat spots when i first put my foot down, it kind of judders then it goes especially in 2nd gear can anyone help me to mend this.
