Why call it the fan belt? Corsas dont have fan belts, its the alternator belt.

you wont be very happy when your car wont start cos you got a flat battery though, seriously get a new fan belt ASAP anyone mechanically minded could change one

Cheers, il pop down halfords later, how much would it set me back if those things have gone shiney??

Halfords do belts for about £4 if it has been doin it for a long time it may have made the alternator pulley shiney, so you could do with changing that as well. just try changing the drive belt(alternator belt) at the moment and see if that fixes the problem.

dont be fucking stupid, DO NOT SPRAY IT WITH OIL.

tighten it, if you cant tighten it anymore then buy a new belt, they are only like 6 quid.

As the title states im about as much use as a cake at a weight watchers meeting when it comes 2 engines, can you tell me what the belt thing on the left hand side of the engine is (drivers side) cos when my cars idling it makes the most annoying sound, sounds like a shitty old fiesta cross sowing machine!!! It sounds like its the round things it goes round that are sort of squeling, whateva this thing is ive had it tightened but it didnt do no good, could i spray some sort of lubricant cos it sounds like it needs it!!! Cheers for putting up with my clueless-ness, any help much appreciated, Jamie :boggle:
