if its the alternator belt, it will only squeal at idle. When you rev it, it should go away, then come back when revs drop.

cheers ppl.

Can't pin point the noise by head under bonnet.
Dav light is not coming on no more like...
anti freeze etc is fine...
needs to be quite cold for it to do it.Like in the summer if left over night would not do it in morning...
was doin this last winter too:o

Will get alternator belt checked.
somebody said to listen if the squeling goes up and down with the revs of the engine...will check this in mornin.
It is annoying and pissin me right off...need to get it sorted somehow...

Is ur engine managment light still going on and off?
We seemed to have the same problem with the light on but no effect while driving.
I found mine to be a fault with the EGR Valve.
This may be your problem aswell Mav. Althought mine does not Squeal :boggle:
I got a replacement reconditioned EGR for £35 (Vaux price, £235) but unfortunately the sent a Corsa C one, so gotta send it back to the breaker and get them to send a Corsa B EGR Valve ASAP.

gambit, you know its not as easy as that, i find it difficult to pinpoint specific noises when ticking over

surely its just a case of sticking your head under the bonnet & pinpointing exactly where its coming from?
