Adrian, what's your exhaust look like? do you still have the sebring box but with a centre section...

Anyone got longlife's number? if they can make it sound like trotty's did at alton towers I may be willing to pay the price - though I've forgotten the sound :P

01454 261430 - there's the number for their place near me :)

Just get them to do a cat back system, and remove the centre silencer. Have a 'sport' backbox and pick the tailpipes of your choice - simple as that :D

J20PHL + mistdotcom read what I said about the 8 valve cars - just for the way the engine works, it gives that nice burble sound. Mine's a 16v and a Gsi (J20PHL) is a 16v so you may not get the same sound.

a mate has a piper full stainless system with a 4 inch dual exit tailpipe. the exhaust is very quiet untill you put in a decat pipe, its only on a 106 quiksilver (1.4 8v) and it is the nicest sounding exhaust i have heard. idle is a low rumble which is a great. When you floor it the noise just gets better. i have ordered one for my cars, 106 XSI 1.6 and my GSi so i will let you know what they sound like

I have a 1.2 8v with the centre silencer cut out and a peco powermaster back box (i was given it) and it sounds nice, not raspy at all, lovely low note on idle and a nice sound when you put your hoof down. im pleases with it and it only cost me £20 (to use the ramps and do the cutting myself)

I know V8's have a nice burble :D Cobra yum yum

but, engine's with 4 valve's per cylinder are more raspy - than one's with only 2...

hence 8v's with nice exhaust system make a nice burble... i.e. Snowy's lovely sounded 1.2 8v.

8v cars make a good burble  you mean v8, v8 cars do not have 8v:thumbs:

Why can't yours sound like Trotty's paul? Its the same engine.

We do scorpion, i'd say scorpion of sebring with sport centre section

yeh it sounds fucking beautiful mate - but I've been told it won't sound like that on mine? ??

Trotty

posted on 2nd Dec 03 at 21:24

Mine was £360, cat back with centre silencer removed, and 2x 3" inwardly rolled pipes.

You've heard it Paul - I'm pretty happy with it really - not tooooo OTT, but still nicely loud enough ;)

scorpion mate

we do them , and i thinmk they are top quality.

next on the list would be sebring

surely, there's a limit on what they can make your car sound like isn't there?

for example... you couldn't make it sound like v6 because there's only 4 cylinders, so surely you can't make a 16v have that deep v8 style burble that 8valve cars have?

It'll only be rasp or rasp, but just how much is what they can change and the loudness? (or am I wrong? )

Hey,

I've been meaning to get a bloody exhaust for ages... I initially wanted a dual exit system (Pipe out each side) and was going to go to powerflow for one, but I don't know if I can trust them and then there's the large cost and extra hassle of booking etc...

Now I'm thinking of just getting a off the shelf whole system, one or two pipes - undecided.

What systems are about these days, and which is best for sound - without losing power (or perhaps gaining some if possible).

I don't really want to buy a system, thats gonna sound like someone who's had too many baked beans... (farty noise)

I personally love the sound of a nice deep burble, but I believe you only get that with 8v engines, what's out there for the 16v engine's and what noise do they make? if you can describe it

Cheers,

Paul J
