When the wheel bearing went on the Corsa, everytime I accelerated, it sounded like an old tube train driving away from a station!

Wurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr etc.

aye, id go with adam on this one, just wipe a bit of grease on the back of the boss where it comes in contact with the shroud

Adam-D

or more simply it could be the steering wheel boss rubbing on the shroud

A droaning type noise is often a sign of a worn/noisy wheel bearing you can jack it up and spin the back wheels if one is worn you will hear a harsh rumbling noise when you spin the wheel,
if its a front bearing the if you drive down a straight road and move the steering wheel left to right gently you should hear the noise go off in one of the directions that will indicate which front bearing it is
