To remove the front struts you'll need -

18mm spanner & socket to remove the bolts holding the strut to the hub
13mm spanner to remove the top nuts
clamp the spring usings clamps then depending on make of struts either an 18 or 19mm spanner 7 9mm spanner to loosen the strut.
Hopefully no1s changed any nuts or bolts in the past:P

while the whole shock is still in the car loosen the big bolt in the middle (picture above) with a long breaker bar, stops u having to fart about with holding the bottom nut and trying to loosen the other inside bit.

nah look at the piccy, i had to hold the bottom nut while i undone the smaller nut at the top which was connected to the thread. if i didnt hold the locking nut and just turned the top one the whole section span and didnt undo :(

mine never had locking nuts, nor did my bros, you sure you dont meen nylock nuts?

yeah this is probably correct,i never realised or had a problem tho,could be due to the fact i use air tools:lol:

the retaining nut will have a locking nut on it. on mine the plate which stops the spring from coming off had a dip in the middle where the locking nut met up against. i couldnt get a spanner in there to hold it while i undone the other nut, not sure if its just on my car as a bodge or other people have faced it :boggle:

quite a easy job once you've done it once

take it your changing the springs and shocks or just springs??????

jack the front of the car up secure it on axle stands(i find the best way is to put the axle stands on the chassis leg box sections under the car floor,u'll see what i mean)
then remove both front wheels

i dont have a haynes and duno what to do.
know u need spring compressors think my bro has em.
need to change mine again after gettin it doen twice at garage dont wana spend even more so wan a go myself.
any help would be great :thumbs:

think i might jus need to put bigger bump stops on but i stil gota take them out eh
