If you look where the pipe comes out of the union it seems like it is thicker then gets thinner just before the bend? Not sure if that's the photo or what. But if it does get thinner it's a fail. Reduced in size by a third I think is the actual term they use?

Doesn't look to me like it needs it though, and its not an easy job - that pipe goes right round the bay and it'll all need bleeding.

For all it would cost, and the time it would take, i would just change it. Its what they have failed it on, and its what you will have fixed. Job done.

Never heard of them failing it on a union being corroded before, if theres any rust at all on the pipe clean it with a bit of sand paper and smear a bit of grease on it or coat of paint

I cant take it back up i have no tax or mot just now
I was thinking about phoning up and asking but not sure if they would remember what it failed on
maybe try to take the photo up to see what they say

Doesn't look too bad unless they're meaning the union. Can you get it back there to clarify that's the bit they're talking about?
