Loosen battery earth (safest to disconnect), turn ignition on, then off and disconnect battery within 30 secs.

How do I disconnect my battery without my alarm going off?!! i have a 98 s reg 1.4 sport with a factory alarm fitted. every time i remove the negative or positive it goes off!!!!!! HELP!!
