(This is my thoughts they may be wrong)The biggest restriction of the egr system is not all the crap bolted on but the exhaust ports in the head so if ya get rid of it bolt ons wont make much difference unless you mod head aswell, the exhaust ports have camel hump shaped castings in head which dirct gasses to egr and restrict ports these would need to taken out which prob be a big hassle and expensive for little gains.

take the valve off the inlet manifold and make a new gasket out of an old biscuit tin but without the two holes then refit the valve and plug the wireing back in that way the ecu will still think it is working but really its doing nothing. and it will still pass an MOT.

now has anyone actually done this on their x14xe engine, and if so what were the emissions like after it and was there any trouble with the ECU as cybermonkey seems top think there will be

u can junk the egr safely and possibly free up a couple of bhp in the process and save yourself any bother when it eventually decides to pack in as they often do and as the part costs £161 new from vauxhall save u a few pennies
