Or you could get an engine now and be done with it. Letting something give up is not best practise dude, trust me. The wait for the AA or similar is an arse when an engine lets go. At least you know it is coming, prepare for it and sort it rather than it sorting you.................

Does nobody read the rest of the thread

Go on the link I posted :P

Well it WOULD have been good advice.................but I guess I don't have to tell you that now ;):D

Hope you get it sorted fella.

my old c16xe engine went the same, bottom end stated knocking and i thought it would be ok. died about a month after it started. got another engine with low milage and had to go without a car for just over a month.
so mite be worth either:
A luck for another engine, or
B get rid

However..... how long has it been since your timing belt has been done..... and have you checked your oil?

I see.

Timing belt hasn't been done since I got the car, that's all I know, and thats 17000 miles or something. Oil is fine, I filled up yesterday as it was low.

Could it be related?

How low?

What engine?

If it was low it screams tappets to me...

could be just a bit tappety when its cold maybe even the headgasket, if oil was low, does it go up and down in volume witht the revs?

could be bottom end if its more of a deep tap if you get me.

Graham88

This has just started today, if you lightly touch the throttle it'll tap, then if u put it down heavier it'll stop for a while, then after abouy 3k revs it'll start getting louder and by 5k it's screaming and I lose bottle cause it sounds awful.

Searched threads on here, and found 2 possible culprits from other peoples problems, reference here & here.

Any more ideas?
