could the 3rd teminal be for the read out so has a seperate terminal | |

Um, you want to connect it straight across the battery. When it's charged it's a infinite impendance and if you wired it in series, your amp wouldn't work ;) | |

there is 3 terminals a + a - and a little 1 at the back of the capacitor wot is this 1 for |
