Oil was changed, still tappy, actually seems worse now. Tappets methinks, the garage said it would take 2 days?? Seems a very long time to change some tappets, and £15 for each.

mines quite tappy. it's because i thrashed the bollocks off it and drove it to near the limiter  just needs replacement tappets.

it's more tappy when oil is low.

Will try that then

Its defo coming from the lifters or something, its nothing loose around the bay or anything like that, no mayo in the oil, so a change will be done, see if it helps.

agreed engine flush is ok for newer engines but for older engines all the shit in the engines is covering problems etc. if you get all the shit out there may be unseen problems

I wouldn't do that...

best way would be this IMO:

drain used oil, remove oil filter, drain oil from it, put it back (old filter) put about a litre of cheap 10-40W oil and let the engine run for some time. Then drain again.

Fill up with new oil and put new filter on :)

My mate picked up a 1999 1.2 16v SXI, everything seems good on it, except the engine seems really tappy. Theres oil in it, and it seems to be running OK, are SXIs usually quite tappy?
