No, the exhaust ports in the head are different.

a 1.6 head would give more power on a 1.4.

C16XE head will be best to use.

exhaust for the 1.4 and 1.6 are exactly the same so it doesnt matter which head you put on not sure what a 1.6 head on a 1.4 would do

do the bigger ports have any effect on the power/torque of the engine, or even at all noticeable?

want to keep it as a 1.4, but use the 1.6 head so the exhaust will be made to a 1.6, for when i change to a 1.6. so might aswell get the beast head( no pun intended) now

Valves are ALL th same IIRC, C16XE has bigger ports, X16XE are slightly smaller, X14XE and X16XEL are smallest, both exhaust and inlet that is.

I'm sure someone posted the sizes before :boggle:

The only stamp on the engine is the engine code, yeah, not like the big block 8v ones.

exhaust manifold will fit fine on either its just down to the flow of air inside and the power difference

what about the valve sizes are they different? can the 1.6 head be used on the 1.4? mainly as i want an exhaust made up (manifold back for the 1.6 i plan to install at a later date due to insurance reasons) and want to use it for the 1.4 aswell as the 1.6

Nope. They are not. I'm not too sure of the X16 and C16 differences, but the X14 has smaller ports. The X16XEL engine also uses this head.

are the exhaust ports the same on a x16xe, x14xe and a c16xe?

also where is the capacity stamped on the engine, or is there just the engine code?
