they didnt use anything like DTI just knocked the drum off and looked inside and said the whole lot needs doing lol

i no something always comes up when i dont want it to lol

they should use a DTI to measure the run out and also to see if its been warped from excessive heat. if they were scored and the lip was excessive then your best bet is to get them changed.

why is it everything needs doing when you dont want or need it to lol

i went and looked for myself and he did say that one side was fine but other wasnt and you have to replace both at the same time. he did mention new bearings aswell.

which side is the thickness to be measured near the rim?

the lips only make it hard to remove and refit the drums. the lip can be ground off without causing any damage to the drum its self. you need to get them to measure the runout thickness of the drums and compair them to the manual. if they are nearing the limit then get them changed. if they have plenty left on them, then get the lips removed and then have them all cleaned up (shoes etc) and put back on.

also another reason for the price being high on the rear drums is because the rear wheel bearings are in the drums and new ones need to be bought with the drums and then they need to be pressed in

is it the drums need replacing or the brake shoes? for my corsa i had 2 new brake shoes and front brake pads for 100 quid at kwik fit. also they tightened my hand brake cable.

Got a quote for to fix handbrake as it is loose.
I got a brake check done and I was told that i needed new drums and replacement valve or something. in total £200 including labour is it me or it that a high price?

cheers
