will have a flat flywheel, the x16xe has a pot fly wheel, if its whineing make sure you replace the release bearing (i have one if you need one)

yes my old m-reg sri 16v had a flat flywheel and inspection cover... every corsa i have seen that has been a bit newer has had a gearbox fitted which did not have the inspection cover...

funnily enough I have an x14xe on an M reg SRi and it doesnt have a pot flywheel, one glance underneath the car with the inspection plate off will tell u mate

on that age car it should have the pot type flywheel and no inspection plate on the bottom of the gearbox, so i'd say an unlikely chance u will be able to do it without dropping the box... go check under the front of the car and you will see on the underside of the gearbox if it has an inspection plate or not, if it does then unbolt the 4 11mm bolts and see if it has a flat flywheel... i doubt it on that age car tho... worth a look. chris

already got haynes but wondered if the x14xe engine has enough clearance between the flywheel and the clutch bell housing cover plate to work out if it has a pot clutch which is thicker or a standard clutch which is thinner.I dont need to be dropping the gaerbox out if i can help it.Any help would be great!
